1. Introduction
This application note describes a flyback converter using the Fairchild Power Switch (FPS) in a switched mode power supply (SMPS) for a monitor. The Fairchild Power Switch (FPS) integrates a MOSFET and its control IC into one package, incorporating all of the required protection circuitry on chip. This simplifies the design of the SMPS, which now requires fewer components, enhancing reliability and increasing manufacturing productivity.
